What a weekend!

Saturday, May 27th, my little girl graduated from high school. What a fast 13 years this has been. She had made a great collection of pictures for her party, three big sheets of foam core neatly arranged wtih the best of her memories. It was easy to remember the story behind each picture and to understand why she had selected it. But Einstein was right, time is very relative!
After taking family pictures with the grands, friend pictures with the circle of best friends, and finally some pictures at the "tiki hut" Kent and I were walking to the truck to head for home when he said something that had me welling with emotion. Cherish your children cuz your time with them flies by.
The "tiki hut" is a small hut with art on it. It was constructed about ten years ago. The original design included small carved sandstone faces that all the kids in the schools did. It was nothing to look at, and as time went by it was falling apart. The only thing that really remained were the columns of heads that the BHS art students had done. They were more massive and more protected from the water. Last fall, Alix was asked to submit a concept on what could replace the faces on the sides. Her only criteria was that the 4 sides had to be themed and it had to be made of ceramic tile mosaic. She noodled around until she remembered seeing something about the 4 pillars of education. She used her brother and several friends for models. It is amazing how vibrant and beautiful that whole art piece has become!
