The end
Today is Alix's last day of school. I was making her lunch this morning and thinking of all the other times I've put a sandwich together for her for school (180 x 12=2160). This year she has wanted lunch meat most of the time, but for years, maybe 9 or 10, she took exactly the same sandwich - peanutbutter and blueberries. I always had to freeze about 25 lbs of blueberries every summer to get us through the school year. One time I ran out and she could tell the difference between home frozen and factory frozen. I thought she was just being "Alix", but later read that home frozen blueberries get a tougher skin than the factory done ones. This made the storebought ones squishier and made her sandwich soggy. It makes me sad to know she won't be here, but its like accepting birthdays, the alternative is worse. I'd rather have her at school doing something she enjoys than being here in a dead end job.
When I pick her up from school this afternoon we have to clean out her locker and go get her transcript from Ivy Tech where she took an evening pychology class, and give it to the guidance office so she gets credit for it. She came down this morning dressed to the nines. Since it is her last day of school it is the last guaranteed time she will eat lunch with the crush. She was laughing about what they have been doing. She said that lots of people change their myspace music all the time and that Q. has been changing his every few days. So she gets on line and makes me listen to it. All about "being afraid to say the way I feel." I asked if that was meant for her and she said I hope so. Then she said, I had to find something to answer back so then she plays a song that basically said she feels the same way blah blah. And she had changed her picture back to the one from the prom where they are dancing together. I was thinking how absolutely 21st century they were with this electronic flirting, when she says "this internet flirting has got to come to an end!"

Congrats! My "last" day of high school was a misnomer, because the Provincial finals were actually a few days later--after our graduation ceremony even. I wish I could remember it, but all I remember is being so glad to get the heck out of that place!
Hey congrats too!! Wish we could be there for th shindig! Give that pretty girl a hug from her westcoast family.
Oh, and I really think that Alix should come to my grad, since I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I could be at her grad. But hey, if I don't pay those bills at Starbucks, there wouldn't be a need for the sign ordinance--I do lots of construction related invoices. It's a catch-22.
TO ken: You take your two slices of bread, put a thin coat of peanutbutter on each slice, then carefully lay out a layer of frozen blueberries (or fresh if you have them). Put slices together so that the peanutbutter acts as glue for sandwich. You must remember she was taking this to school so berries were thawed by time she ate it. Got a serving of fruit without any extra sugar!
