Okay the rain can stop now!
The previous post sat in my draft box for several days. It has rained now for about 48 hours. The basement is leaking so we've had over 2 inchs. (Works almost as good as a rain guage!) One of our landscape trees (the ones we paid to have put in rather than the ones that came with the house) blew over last night. It seems strange that it would do so as it has been in the ground for almost 4 years. But I did unstake it last fall after the leaves were off. It is fully leafed out now and it did blow pretty hard last night, so maybe the leaves acted like a sail. I called a neighbor and a friend from church and they helped me stake it back up.
Thank God for church friends. I was thinking about that while I vacuumed today. I have a friend who is atheist; who d0esn't know the joy of being "related" to 300 other people simply because you worship together. Her and her husband made a conscious desicion to be unchurched and un-GODed (if that is a word.) They have 3 girls who have lovely morals and values but whom I wouldn't want my son to date or marry. I don't know how a marriage with such different values held by the spouses could possibly flourish. The oldest daughter is engaged to a man who was brought up in our church. When I remarked about that to one of the girlfriends of Susie I was told "He isn't Christian any longer, Bill (the dad) changed him." The really sad thing is that they celebrate all the Christian holidays but in the truly secular way; Santa, Easter bunny and Easter eggs.

It may take a few years but the "couple" (if they become one) will make their own discisions about faith. it sometimes takes a crisis, like sickeness, war, or who knows what to challenge them and the seed of faith that is in all of us can begin to grow.
