opps I forgot

Wednesday was the senior honors night. When we read the criteria for being invited to come we were a bit confused: national honor society?, no; honors dipolma?, no; but maybe special awards. So about 1/3 of her class march into the auditorium in their gowns and they look so nice. About halfway thru the program I see NMU listed. Anyway she got several smallish but helpful scholarships from NMU! Then they did the department awards and she was the female art student of the year!

Anyway the painting is a watercolor she did last fall of field corn in a still life. It was working with an artist in residence so the entire class were looking at the same display of corn stalks. It was really very interesting how each interpeted it and their techniques. She had it matted for me for Mother's Day. The image is from a post card the school sent out for their "meet the artist night" at the gallery exhibit. It doesn't quite do it justice, but the orginal is too big to put on a scanner.
